Mike Russell tells us to go on without him, like a hero trapped behind a chainlink fence, providing us with the strength to move on, and become men – just like Harry Dean Stanton did in Red Dawn. Except Harry Dean didn’t spend his afternoon getting in water balloon fights with rambunctious little kids like Cort did. Harry Dean is also nowhere to be found in the new Red Dawn remake, which leads us all (once Mike joins us) to ruminate on three commentary-laden classics from our past: Red Dawn on the right, They Live on the left, and THX 1138 standing above, staring into the sun while credits scroll by. We also discuss Skyfall briefly before diving into another spy film series that’s taking a shaky step beyond its Matt Damon-y origins: The Bourne Legacy is apparently smuggling some other sort of movie inside its rugged, chemically-addicted exterior. It’s a fast one tonight, kids.
