R.I.P. Cort and Fatboy 2003-2012

Monday No-Show Show(s)

by admin on August 27, 2012

So, Cort is enjoying some simpler times in the woods. Those poor, poor woods. So you’re not getting an episode with this post today. Apologies. Let’s try to make it up to you with a post about some other shows you might wanna try today in lieu of listening to our regularly scheduled, meandering, unfocused blah-blah!

Portland Sucks:
Aside from being one of the big reasons we’re still doing this show, and THE reason you’re still able to listen to it, Robert Wagner is a magnificent podcaster in his own right. Portland Sucks, Season 3 is a look at living in Portland from a viewpoint other writers/bloggers/podcasters simply can’t give. Updates twice a week.

Ham-Fisted Radio w/ Dawn Taylor
Sometimes we’ll talk about a movie, or a TV show, and it’ll spin off into a weird conversational wonderland where we’re learning valuable things about ourselves (some less valuable than others.) Dawn Taylor‘s show takes that notion, and amplifies the insight, the awkwardness, the neuroses, and the catharsis by like 30x. Featuring a rotating group of co-hosts (including people like Jaime Kirk, Bobby Roberts, Jesse Graff, Leia Weathington, and Mary-Suzanne Lamkins), if you listen to podcasts hoping for a glimpse behind the curtain into why people are doing the things they do, Ham-Fisted Radio is that show. Updates twice a week.

Chronicles of the Nerds

There’s a lot of nerdy/dorky/geek-themed podcasts out there. A lot. So something called Chronicles of the Nerds had really better stick the landing. Luckily, Mikey Neilson, Ibrahim Moustafa, and Allen Bethel aren’t faking a single one of their moves. The geekiness on display here is pure, talking about comics, gaming, television and movies with a fiery, nerdly passion. You wanna know more about what book you should be reading, what show you should be revisiting, what movie coming up might be worth your hard earned ducats? Here you go. Updates weekly.

The Mediocre Show
Our brothers from another mother in the Philadelphia region. A comedy podcast that existed before everyone else in the entertainment industry descended upon the Comedy section of iTunes like hungry vultures looking to tear extra ticket sales off the carcass. Eric Tomorrow, Hope Tomorrow, and Mike Pilot host a 3 hour conversational extravaganza, often unearthing some of the finest unintentional comedy masterpieces the internet has to offer, and starting fights that echo for years after they’re settled. Updates weekly.

Geek: Remixed – The Podcast
For those who appreciate Bobby’s Geek: Remixed series of nostalgia bath movie-music mashups beyond the level of “Oh, that’s kinda cool,” a podcast that operates bascially as a running track-by-track director’s commentary, detailing what samples were used, how the mashups were built, and the various inspirations from film and hip hop that influenced the remixes. Updates whenever.
