Courtenay Hameister deals with trauma. Lots of it. Firstly, the trauma that comes from being exposed to Bagel Heads. Which is a thing. Secondly, the trauma that comes from belly buttons. Thirdly, the trauma from finding out a self-proclaimed feminist has written a biography of the vagina that seems to fundamentally misunderstand everything about that particular area of the body. But Fourthly, and most importantly, the trauma that comes from finding out your brother has been in a car wreck so big, so destructive, that Cort found out about it on the morning news. Courtenay takes us through a strange, surreal, scary night, unearthing questions that most people, luckily, don’t ever have to face.

How the brain works when falling is really cool. Radiolab did a great episode on it.

Sam Elliot as a dracula hunter would be pretty bad ass.
Sam Elliot as anything would be pretty badass.
BTW, here are pictures of the accident – I still look at them and am shocked that anyone could emerge unscathed (or mildly scathed on one finger) from this. My brother, it turns out, is really good at head-on collisions.

People do usethe saline injection stuff for other uses… like inflating their scrotums to giant size. You may or may not want to look at that.
There is still one Arctic Circle in Salem. It’s on Capitol Street and is in the old Bob’s Burgers building. It has gone down hill though. Although it always was kind of down hill. Good fry sauce though.
There’s also one in Newport. Drive by it every time we visit relatives on the coast. I may have to stop in and get something to eat next time we go down there…
