My crippling social anxiety kept me from saying this in person, but thank you guys so much. You have no idea how important your show was to me. I have no idea what I’d be like without you guys to guide me away from the path of total ignorance I was on before I was listening to your show. I supported Bush for no reason, I fucking liked Larry “The Cable Guy,” I didn’t know what made a movie good and bad, I had no idea of the scope of geek culture, and I was directionless, unmotivated, and depressed. Without the show and Bobby guiding me to Walking Carpet, I’d be a total mouth-breathing ignoramus right now. Thank you guys for the many years of entertaining and, sometimes, insightful commentary on this insane world we live in.

Thank you guys so much for the hours and hours of entertainment you have brought us. I grew up pretty much all through my teens listening to you guys and I will never forget you. You’ve helped me get through a couple rough times growing up. Love you guys and keep on keepin on :)

Thanks for your time, you all helped me get through 2012… and thats saying a lot. Don’t stay dead too long, I expect some zombie spin-offs to rise up out of this.

I just discovered you guys through randomly looking at the podcasts in iTunes. I was intrigued and so I downloaded an episode. It was almost three years ago. I don’t remember the day but the Woods’ were there and I think Byron beck was there and they were giving you guys Christmas presents.
I had no idea who any of those people were and didn’t quite understand the backstory of being on the radio and that whole thing but the show made me laugh. That was enough for me to check out some more. I became hooked. I don’t think I have missed a single episode since that first one. Even the episodes with Fan Fiction Friday.
I used all the Fan Fiction Friday segments I could find and edited them together into one long disturbing episode and got a friend from work to listen to you guys as well.
I would have loved to attend any of the fun sounding things you do in Portland but unfortunately I live in Indiana.
This is becoming way too long so I will just say thank you for the countless hours of entertainment and thought provoking discussion. I feel as though I’m losing a gang of friends. Good luck with any future endeavors you guys undertake.

Tl;dr You guys are awesome and your show is irreplaceable. Thanks for everything!

I found this back in 2006 as a weird round thing in Gresham, Oregon. It quickly became my favorite thing, I’ve listened pretty much everyday since. Just the banter between you guys and all of the awesome guests, I’m very glad that I ever found it. I’m bummed I couldn’t attend, I’m too god damn young. I’m going to miss it a lot. Thank you very much for all of the great stuff over the years, I’m going to go be sad now.

they said the site will be staying up so people who stumble upon the show can still listen to it, but they want people to listen to other shows instead of listening to old shows.

Wish I could have been there, guys (curse my luck at living below the Mason-Dixon line). Really, I can’t thank you guys enough for all the entertainment you have provided me the past few years. You’ve introduced me to new movies and comics that I may never have checked out before, informed me on some of the fucked up stuff that I might not have heard aout otherwise, and most importantly, made me laugh at some points in my life where I really needed to laugh.

Thank you all so much.

Cort and fatboy is THE very first podcast that i listened to. I’ve been an avid listener since 2010 so thank you for the good times and i really hope you guys can reunite at least once a year. As i say in my native language “selamat tinggal dan terima kasih”

I have listened to the show since the kufo days. I was in the Army and after an explosion in 2008 I was bedridden for over a month. It sounds paradoxical but being able to listen to you guys helped me keep my sanity. I will miss the show.

Cort and Fatboy was my very first podcast. I had come across a web comic that mentioned Jack Black was in the running to play Green Lantern on the big screen. Being none to pleased with this I ran a google search and came upon an interview on a local rock station on the other side if the country. That station was KUFO, and the show was Cort And Fatboy. I dug the show and have been listening ever since. I’ll miss you guys.

I was there when there was a Cort with no Fatboy. I voted for Fats. I witnessed the dynamic double’s birth. And now you are no more. It’s a sad sad day in the land of meh…. RIP Cort and Fatboy. I hope for a zombie return. Brazilian kisses.

Never had the balls to comment before, last chance so here it goes. Thanks to everyone involved with this podcast for helping keep me sane five days a week for the last four years. I will genuinely miss the “pop culture blender/nostalgia bath”. You guys don’t know me but I feel like I’m losing nine close friends. Thanks a lot guys.

Throw one more “I was there during the KUFO days, you helped me through the hardest years of my life, I will dearly miss you guys” comment on the pile.

A couple questions though;

How the HELL did you pull off that movie? That was glorious.

Did Eric Hendricson ever give back the money from out of the tip jar?

Is there any way I could arrange to get Mike Russel to come to my house and shoot the shit about Yacht Rock and Michael Mann films for an hour or so once a week?

I do want to thank you guys for turning me on to pop and geek culture in Portland. I never would have known about countless comics, conventions, books, movies, Trek in the Parks (Treks in the park?) arcades, restaurants, pirates, sandwiches, and countless other articles that have guided me on bored nights.
You guys have taught me how to be a contributing member of geek culture in Portland, and I can’t thank you enough for that.
You will be sorely missed.

I said this on Twitter, and to Cort at the show. I had never seen Star Wars. Much to the dismay of many people. I was taking bid on the best possible viewing experience. And no one could have topped what you presented last night.

And for any who are interested, here is a link to the comic I presented, featuring a return of Cort’s beard monster:

Thank you, thank you SO MUCH for a great last show. I first found you guys on KUFO and was impressed by Fatboy’s black-belt skill in applying Star Wars references to nearly anything, and thereby improving his point/description. I mostly just listened to the Friday podcasts, because I’m a big fan of intelligent movie discussions, especially when it also includes a knowledgeable familiarity with comic books, Star Wars, B.Galactica, comic book movies, etc. Really going to miss those – but I got at least a couple podcast recommendations from Mike Russell afterward.
When I finally got home, I read one of Brian Bendis’ last Avengers issues. Perhaps not a good idea to do that on the same day as your last show- uugghhh.
Also, though it was super late, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE AMAZING SURPRISE MOVIE at Midnight! I randomly wondered if the ‘surprise’ could be something like SW: ANH [will you get in trouble if we write out the title?], and I was thrilled to see it crawl across the screen.
Now I’m going to send Bobby a friend invite on FB so I can still get his thoughts/comments on life & culture…

You magnificent bastards. I considered flying down from Canada (I turned 21 in September, but could not. The thing that nearly put me over the edge was the opportunity to see that film on the big screen. By the way, that was the easiest thing to call ever. ‘The show starts at 9, and will likely be 2 hours, so ending around 11. That’s the usually time the midnight movies start. Huh. What could they be showing? Fargo? Not for the final movie ever. Die Hard? Twice already.

It had to be that.

I’ve been listening since 2007, and have loved every damn episode that you guys have ever done. There has never been a day where I was left wanting (except maybe the switch from the 2.5 hour Mike Russell Power hour episodes to the 1 hour podcast). I’m going to miss the hell out of you guys. Just listening to this show helped transform me from the ignorant 16 year old who didn’t care for spelling or facts into the ignorant 21 year old grammar and fact nazi I am today. It’s been a swell ride gentlemen.

One last thing, put the archives up! Just because there’s other crap on T.V. that’s decent doesn’t mean that I never want to watch classic Simpsons again. Or maybe show someone Arrested Development.

My son and I discovered you guys on KUFO in 2006, shortly after moving here from TX. My son was 14 at the time so you can imagine how great it was to have something in common that we both enjoyed and could talk about. We have been waiting for him to turn 21 so we could attend a midnight movie together, but you bastards had to end the show before that could happen! Ahem, sorry that slipped out…anyway, thanks for the laughs and the private “in jokes” that we tortured other non-listener family members with over the years. Good luck in all that you do. :)

1) I had bought a ticket to see the both of you die.
2) Wasn’t able to get a rent-a-car in time to make the 200 mile drive to the west.

I’m truly bummed that I missed to witness the end, but I just listened to the last show and it sounded incredible. My thoughts equaled those that were expressed from everyone.

Thank you.

The way I came to finding out about the podcast is, shall we say, unconventional. Been following Bobby on Twitter for months before I knew he does a one. Once I started listening, I was hooked. My only regret is that I hadn’t found you guys sooner, as i’ve only been listening for about a year, but what a year it has been!

Not being a big fan of comic books, I appreciated your insight into movies, American politics and pop culture the most. How could I possibly thank you for the laughs and precious, forever-cherishable moments you created for us.

Needless to say you will be missed. Filling the Cort and Fatboy-shaped-hole (that sounded dirtier than intended, sorry) won’t be easy. Best of luck in all your future ventures. Thank you once again. Take care and peace out, motherfuckers.

Like I said elsewhere on this website, while I certainly will try to go out and listen to other podcasts, I hope to GOD this website stays up. I’m downloading all the audio files to a backup harddrive just in case, and I REALLY wish my old computer hadn’t crapped out, because I used to have a HUGE stockpile of Cort and Fatboy podcasts and even some stuff from the KUFO show, like the entire run of George W Bush: Boy President. While there will be new shows and new podcasts and new people to listen to, Cort and Fatboy will ALWAYS hold a place in all our hearts, and we want to remember everything we can of you guys in the months and years and maybe even decades to come.

I’ve been listening since KUFO days like a lot of others here, since before Fatboy was even around, and you guys not only got me to listen to the station every day, you had me listening through to other DJs there too (my favourite is still probably Tim/JJ Smoove). I hope you guys upload any old podcasts you have, and leave the website running; this needs to stand as a testament to all the utter awesome meh you two produced, and a monument to the awesome memories. All the Midnight Movies, interviews, geek trivia…you guys will be missed so much.

It’s been a hell of a time. I’ve spent hundreds of hours listening to you guys. I’ve laughed harder than I ever have from your show. I mean real belly laughs, where tears stream down my face and I struggle to breathe. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it, and now I feel empty. Cortex and Fatblob.

Thanks guys, and have a good one.

The minute the final episode was over I instantly felt empty. It’s a little weird feeling so connected to people I’ve never met, but I wanted to say thank you for the years and countless hours of entertainment. The show and the wonderful people on it will always be very special to me.

I may have only come to find the show around 2011, but having you guys to listen to 5 days a week was huge for me. I know how you feel about the issue, but I really do wish I had a way to listen to episodes prior to 2011.. I can’t seem to find any from before then.

But I understand all good things must come to an end, and I wish you all the best.

Thanks again.

Only been listening since June. Friend of mine had been recommending it for two years. I got into a job that allowed me to pass the time with podcasts. I got into you guys first and I’ve picked up a lot others along the way. You were still my favorite. It’s fitting for me that I’ll have to leave this job soon and won’t have as much time for podcasts. But this last month is gonna be a little rough without you guys. I’m notorious in the office for laughing out loud at you guys over the silence. Thanks for putting on such a diverse and awesome show.

I’ve been listening to you guys since right after the KUFO split. For a good year or so there I listened every day, but as schedules changed and whatnot I found less and less time to listen, eventually just listening to the Thursday shows for my dose of ha-has.

I heard about the decision to kill off the show and it hurt. Listening to the final show, though, really put the show to rest in a good way, made it hurt a bit less–more like a good respectful funeral for something we loved.

Thank you guys for all of the awesome times, seriously. Godspeed in all of your future endeavors.

You guys got axed from KUFO on my birthday (10/24), and it turned out to be one of my best presents, as it truly was the gift that kept on giving. Laughs were never in short supply while listening to your show, and for what it’s worth, there were one or two tears. But through the years leading up to now, I hope you know that this show, and what it stood for (I’m still trying to figure that out), was always a little slice of comfort for me, knowing it was laying in wait in my RSS feed, like some spastic puppy waiting to pounce on me second I walked through the doors. You guys have been with me through heartbreak, unemployment, good times, shitty times, and everything in between. So I give you my warmest, most sincere thank you. The show will be missed.

Quick question. I went back to try and find an episode where Bobby went on a HUGE rant about the traffic in Portland. However, the archives appear to stop at around September of this year.

Are these older episodes gone forever? Just curious. I’m not going to do the whole listen from the beginning thing again, but I would like to take snippets of the traffic rant, and perhaps Batman Karaoke.

Thanks for the many years of great entertainment guys. You will be missed!

I honestly wish that I had been there for the final show, and it was a secret wish of mine that I could someday come on the show to personally thank you all for everything you’ve done, just by providing an hour of talking five days of the week, almost every week of the year.

I was in Daegu, South Korea, working as an English teacher when I learned of this podcast. It was in reference to a link from When Fangirls Attack, a link blog that discusses women in comics, and it was talking about Katee Sackoff, and the awesome interview you two had with her. From that episode I was hooked, and I made sure to let you know you had my support, and I stil have the episode in which you mentioned my name and place.

I’ve been through some rough times, and you’ve always been there to provide some comfort even without knowing it. When my Nan Jeans finally passed away due to a brain tumour, you had me laughing and, when your daily guests would alk about loss, crying, and doing so helped to ease the hunk of concrete that had encased my heart.

You were always intelliigent, never talked down to people, and although I didn’t always agree with what you had to say, you nevertheless gave countless hours of yourselves for my entertainment, and I don’t believe there is anything I can give to fully repay for you all.

Thank you for everything.

It was my very first summer job, I would sit on my duff in a well used burnt orange office chair that I assume was from the 70′s, sitting at a thrown together workstaion of a temp job recycling precious metals and dealing with hazardous waist left owver from a microchip production process. It was durring the last few months of the KUFO show. Anyway. Thank you guys for all the smiles and laughs you brought to me. you made that job much more amuzing and did the same for my life after I found the podcast. I discovered both show late, and never got completely caught up. It is only fitting That I discover the end late as well. I too feel like I’m losing nine close friends, but you have lives to live and it was indeed best to end on a high note. Best of luck to you all, and thanks again.

Does anyone know where one might find any of the midnight movie commentaries still hosted online? I understand why they wouldn’t want to archive any of the regular episodes but the commentaries were pretty timeless. I used to watch one synced up with the film a couple times a month but the hard drive I had them on crashed and burned like 6 months ago. Oh well, they were great anyway regardless. So glad Welcome To That Whole Thing exists.
